Our Constitution

1. NAME
The Group is to be known as Richmond and Kew Quilters; www.richmondandkewquilters.org.uk

2. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the group are that the members will learn about patchwork, quilting, and related crafts;
and to share and encourage the development of individual and collective skills through lectures,
workshops and exhibitions.

3. MEMBERSHIP
Members are accepted into the group on payment of the annual subscription. A proportional amount is
payable if joining or leaving part way through the year.

4. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND FEES
All subscriptions and fees are decided by the Committee. The annual subscription is payable in January of
each year. Attendees at meetings also pay a charge to cover the cost of the hall etc unless they have
chosen to subscribe to the membership package in which case meeting fees are considered to be pre-
paid. Advance notice will be given if an additional fee is to be requested from all attendees for meetings
at which guest speakers are invited. Fees for non-members will, in each case, be higher than for
members.


5. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting will be held in December each year. It will
• Review the past year and plans for the coming year
• Elect the Committee.
• Take any other business (AOB)


6. COMMITTEE
6.1 Nominations for all posts will be sought from subscribed members of the group prior to the AGM
at which the committee will be elected to serve for the coming year. The committee should comprise at
least one fifth of the membership and include the offices of a Chairman and a Treasurer. Committee
decisions may be made in meetings or by zoom or email.
6.2 The committee will:
• Plan and organise a programme of activities for the year
• Set all fees and subscription rates
• Approve expenditure
• Encourage new members and publicise events


7. FINANCES
The group will maintain a bank account with the Treasurer, Chairman and one other nominated
committee member as signatories.
8. WINDING UP OF THE GROUP
The winding up of the group must be agreed at a General Meeting by the majority of the membership.
Any group assets must be sold and together with any funds will be distributed as follows:
• Refund current year’s membership fees to individual members
• Any monies remaining to go to a charity selected by the General Meeting.
