News from our November Meeting

Updated: Nov 18, 2022

Jane welcomed members, guest Helen Best-Shaw and especially Paula Doyle, tonight’s speaker and her husband Mark.

A reminder that the “December” meeting has been brought forward to Monday 28th due to other hall bookings; this is the AGM and party night.

For the party- please can we all bring

· a plate of food to share - labelled for any allergens;

· a wrapped Secret Santa gift – preferably related and costing about £5 (if you'd like to take part in this)

· a quiz round, maximum 6 questions (please send to richmondandkewquilters@gmail.com by Friday 25th Nov, but keep the answers to yourself until Monday evening!).

· a mystery sewing related item in a sock for the “feely” round of the quiz

· any items for raffle prizes

· Christmas items we have made- to decorate the hall and as inspiration for next year’s Christmas workshop

· Recycled denim items for the Denim challenge

For the AGM; a survey on the programme and activities will shortly be circulated electronically by Vicky. It would be really helpful if we could all return these by Thursday 24th so we have the results to discuss at the meeting. We will also be electing next year’s Committee so need nominations. Ursula who kindly took over from Sue Brown earlier this year has now stepped down and Brigitta will be leaving from the Treasurer role in June. Publicity and recruitment need more time than the current small Committee can give – please could we have two or three volunteers to share the organising of this.

We had some splendid entries for the A3 Ocean challenge and the favourite- by a wide margin- was Sue’s Margate scene. Well done Sue! See here for these and here for members show and tell and also images from the talk by our speaker Paula Doyle. Paula is leading our Saturday workshop on 19 November, to take one if the remaining places please email richmondandkewquilters@gmail.com
