News from our October Meeting

Updated: Oct 16, 2022

Another evening of friendly chat and fabric fun. After show and tell, Benta led us in making Christmas folded napkins.

This month’s challenge was patchwork or quilted clothing and Sewing Star went to Benta for her red jacket. Thanks to a great suggestion we now have several votes each so those of us who found it hard to choose just one can “spread the love” and show appreciation for all those entries we take a shine to.

We have also been spreading the love by gifting our group-made Ukranian themed quilt to Lena, who has been staying with Jane M. She is delighted to receive this

We are now serving tea and coffee from the beginning of the meeting,

to enjoy during notices and show and tell, with refills available as required.

Subscriptions have been taken up by 21 of us so we have a great basis to grow from! If you know someone who would like to see what we do, a first visit is free do invite them along. A first visit is usually free although next month we welcome Paula Doyle as a speaker so there is a £10 admission for non-members. Paula will talk on "QUILT HERSTORY: A fast paced walk through the history myths of American quilt making from the 17th century right up through to how I came to be a quilter."

Places are still available for the Paula Doyle workshop 10am-4pm on Saturday 14 November. Details at workshop-requirements-19-nov-2022. There will also be an electrician there who is willing to PAT test our sewing machines. If you are interested, please email Benta at . This workshop is £25 for members, if you have friends who may be interested in attending the guest fee is £35.

Current challenges: Please bring your A3-ocean pieces on 14th November; and recycled denim projects on 28th November.

PLEASE NOTE that due to a change in hall availability the December meeting (AGM and Christmas party) has been moved to Monday 28th November, being a date all at the October meeting could accommodate, same time, same place.
